Flying Schools There are several different types of Licences you can train for in the UK so to make it easier to find your local flying school that will provide the correct training we now allow the schools to update their listing and let everyone know which licence they provide training for.
Private Pilots Licence
Otherwise known as a PPL, you must have at least 45 hours experience of that 25 can be dual controlled and 10 hours of solo (5 of that must also be cross country exercises). To fly solo the student must also be at least 16 years of age and holder of a Class 2 medical certificate by a CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) Authorised Examiner.
National Pilots Licence (NPPL)
This licence only allows you to fly a UK registered light aircraft (2000kgs) in the UK only and only during the day. You cant add on additional ratings like you can with other licences.
Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)
The CAA is the UKs aviation regulator; its responsibilities include air safety, airspace regulations, consumer protection and environment research. More information about the CAA can be found on their website. www.caa.co.uk |
